The Ram, the Bull, and the Twins: Aries, Taurus, and Gemini in Your Big Three.
A ram, a bull, and a set of twins show up at a party and decide that they can take over the world! What I just wrote is something I made up, but I believe that anything is possible! The first three signs of the zodiac are Aries, Taurus, and Gemini. When it comes to these three signs, we cover themes related to the self, our values, and communication. Even if we do not possess these three signs in our personal big three, we all have a first, second, and third house in our natal chart that they are the traditional rulers of. The ram, the bull, and the twins teach us about the elements of fire, earth, and air in three beautiful and different modalities. Cardinal signs are leaders, fixed signs are dedicated, and mutable signs are adaptable. This may not be all their characteristics, but we have the rest of the zodiacal wheel to learn more about each modality. For now, we will understand how Aries, Taurus, and Gemini appear in three major placements: the Sun, the Moon, and the Ascendant.
Aries: The Ram.
Having Aries in your big three is a one-of-a-kind spice! Aries traditionally rules the 1st house, where we explore themes related to the self, our body, and how we present ourselves in life. This sign may take on a lot of responsibility, but Aries innately knows when a person, place, or thing is no longer theirs to deal with. Whatever happens, these individuals will learn the power of how they view themselves. Do you feel the energy? No pressure, haha.
Sun in Aries
The Sun is exalted in the cardinal sign of Aries, which means it is fierce, strong, a trailblazer, and potent with massive energy! I got excited even as I typed that, haha. With the Sun in its exaltation, the energy is rewarding, beneficial, and comfortable in its expression of the ego. In other words, it naturally has the confidence to express itself and be who it is meant to be! The Sun and the sign of Aries are both masculine. While engaging with others, the expression level can make this individual recognizable and easily attractive to peers. Hopefully, for all the right things! Mars rules Aries, so the saying, "Let's get ready to rumble!" would apply to Aries. It does not mean they want to fight, but they tend to initiate a certain level of energy when wanting to get things started or while taking action. Aries is all about the courage to take on any obstacle and make decisions with confidence. This energy is driven, but one needs to be mindful of whether the focus is solely self-serving, especially while engaging in group dynamics. Self-reflection is crucial for a person with their Sun in Aries, as any imbalance can lead to viewing a spicy situation through the wrong lens. In the words of Ron Burgundy, "You stay classy, San Diego."
Moon in Aries
When the Moon is in Aries, what are we doing?! Yes, this Moon placement is all about what's next or what new plan we need to follow. Individuals with the Moon in Aries take action in a way that is unique to them. A challenge for this placement may be striking a balance between remaining calm and trying to gain control. With the Moon in Aries, new ways of doing things, learning, and even challenges are welcome, as this placement deeply enjoys things that feel exciting, unusual, and creative. Feeling free to do whatever they want and however they want is a must for this placement. In my personal experience with Aries Moon individuals, it is best to avoid getting on their bad side, as things can escalate quickly. However, just as soon as they become angry, they are also quick to calm down and move on. Aries Moons scream independence, willpower, and courage, which closely resembles the protection of a mother or mother figure. Individuals with this placement may struggle with relying on others or being vulnerable when it is genuinely needed due to a fear of losing the respect of others. Aries Moons should honor what is best for them and open up or soften to those who care for them.
Aries Rising
With Aries on the ascendant, it is no surprise that this placement likes to get busy! Like their Sun and Moon counterparts, this placement tends to take action and initiate change. Aries on the ascendant makes individuals super courageous or bold. Caution is necessary, as unresearched or unexplored decisions can lead to undesirable consequences. However, this placement enjoys taking risks as the ram represents them. Yes, Aries Rising loves to dive headfirst into things, and sometimes, that may work out in their favor. In moments when it does not, it is essential to shift immediately. However, it is deeply admirable that they have an overflowing bank account of resilience to get back up when they fall! If you're dating an Aries Rising, it's essential to know that they tend to be a little impulsive, so speak your mind, but don't take their response personally!
Overall, Aries is a fantastic sign that gives the zodiac the fuel it needs to succeed! It is a sign of overcoming trials and tribulations, knowing when to be assertive, and conjuring up the energy to initiate desired outcomes. Aries is an adventurous sign that may innovate new ideas and lead others to their victories while only sometimes finishing what they start. Aries is here to illustrate what having bravery looks like while taking action on what truly inspires them. If you can connect with an Aries, expect to receive a motivational spark that will lead you to initiate projects or achieve goals with intense passion!
Taurus: The Bull.
Taurus in the Big 3 is a unique combination that illuminates our lives' needs, values, and resources. Traditionally associated with the 2nd house, Taurus delves into themes of material resources, security, and self-worth. Often referred to as the 'Earth Goddess,' Taurus possesses specific powers that lead to material manifestations. With its representation of a fixed Earth, this energy thrives in grounded and stable moments.
Sun in Taurus
When the Sun is in the sign of Taurus, there is an understanding of how to use your current resources to bring more abundance. A Taurus can see the potential in what has not been clearly defined or refined. However, the sprinkle of Taurus can take mere potential and make it real. With that kind of power, there is no need to rush when the Sun is in Taurus! What for? You possess immense creative energy to steer things in remarkable ways if you are steady, careful, and attentive. Taurus knows and understands this. It's not as if they don't occasionally enjoy some pleasurable chaotic change, but remaining calm and chill is more of Taurus' speed. Life is meant to be lived and enjoyed, but in moments of uncertainty and with feelings of fear or lack of safety, we are introduced to the stubborn and controlling side of the Sun in Taurus. Being stagnant, uninspired, or lacking joy are the worst things to experience for this sign because they can often lead to a loss of self. When that sense of self is lost, the self-worth value of a Taurus decreases. However, Taurus will have multiple life experiences in which it is learned that micro-managing ourselves and others doesn't necessarily create a safer environment.
Moon in Taurus
The Moon is exalted in the sign of Taurus, which means it naturally feels good here! This makes sense, considering the Moon and Taurus desire stability, comfort, and ease. This placement knows how to nurture itself by spending time alone, eating the most enjoyable food, or encouraging loved ones. The Moon being in the sign of Taurus creates an even greater ability to manifest their life desires and connect with their creativity organically. This placement may also have a natural ability regarding the social networking department and can establish and build lasting relationships. Unless the dynamics include themes of insecurity, emotional trauma, and jealousy, the individuals with this placement will have successful connections. Parental connections may need to be reflected on from time to time, as you may need to find the source of the "why" regarding social relationships and, perhaps more specifically, your love life. Moments of consistency and discipline best favor any outcome the Taurus Moon wants to achieve.
Taurus Rising
In my experiences with Taurus rising, I never met a more loyal sign in intimate partnerships. Their desire to provide a haven or comfort zone for their significant other is admirable. Taurus-rising individuals prefer long-lasting connections that involve reciprocity and good character because they sincerely desire to embody these qualities for others. This placement makes those around them feel seen, but sometimes they may struggle with allowing themselves to be seen for all they are if they have assumed the role of being the nurturer. They may feel content with what others may give them. However, time will always reveal whether they did well once they look at what they have built and see the fruit of that labor in the present. When a Taurus rising genuinely prioritizes and empowers themselves, they will find joy, stability, and success in people, places, or things.
Taurus being a Venus-ruled sign makes so much sense to me. It is more evident as you get to know someone with Taurus in the big 3. A life of stability, joy, pleasure, and loyalty is not an idea but a way of existence. Sure, there will need to be balance and compromise regarding our indulgences, but Venus supports the concept of luxury and leisure. With the sprinkle of the bull, there's peace in humility and taking one's time, and perhaps there's wealth with the correct values. Taurus is the best when it comes to reminding us that not only slow and steady wins the race, but that to take one's time is the real gift.
Gemini: The Twins.
Gemini in the Big 3 is a unique and special placement! Many of my closest friends and acquaintances have Gemini in the big 3. Even some of my "favorite" cousins have their Sun in Gemini. Geminis can be fun, intellectual, curious, and usually somewhat stylish. When we genuinely connect with a Gemini or work closely with one, we may be surprised or impressed by what they know and can teach. In short, we can learn and elevate ourselves when we have a Gemini in our life as they are here to share information, provide us with their insightful wisdom, and encourage us to try new ideas, especially in the context of relationships.
Sun in Gemini
Gemini is a mutable air sign that traditionally rules over the 3rd house. When given the opportunity or when they prefer to "shine" or "let someone have it," Gemini tends to hold a particular perspective or knowledge that the conversation needs. Gemini individuals are curious about why people believe, think, or behave in specific ways. Yes, they want the whole truth and nothing but the truth, but the good news is that Gemini will allow for the occasional contradiction or lack of foundation in an argument as long as it's genuine. The symbol of twins, or what popular culture calls "the two faces" of Gemini, indicates how Gemini is not solely committed to one role, idea, or anything that strips them of the opportunity to change their minds. After all, they are mutable air associated with Mercury; when you think of the ultimate shapeshifter or alchemist, you should think of Gemini! This can be tricky if Gemini is not using these expansive powers for good but instead prefers to be a "Chatty Patty" or a gossip queen. A good portion of the time, they are just being honest! When in their dignity, you have a sign that is capable of being grounded and rooted in discernment, boundaries, and integrity.
Moon in Gemini
Like the Sun in Gemini, folk like to talk, and so does the Moon in Gemini! With the Moon in Gemini, this placement desires to engage in conversation, communicate with others, process their emotions, and, in a low-key way, constantly gather intel. If you find a person with this placement who needs more clarity or may continue to ask you multiple questions, chances are they are trying to learn more about you or the situation being discussed. Be careful; they tend to get a tad spicy and non-emotional about certain exchanges because they prioritize the facts, not necessarily what is being felt. If you talk to a Moon in Gemini about politics or social injustice, you may find that they are pretty black and white about the subject matter. Period. However, if the conversation is emotional or spiritual, the right individual with the Moon in Gemini uses their intuition and knows how to read the room carefully. This placement values feeling safe and desires the space to be themselves through verbal expression. Remember when I mentioned earlier that Gemini is not usually committed to one idea? When factoring in the Moon, they could also be unreliable or require more consistency. They mean well, though!
Gemini Rising
Okay, Gemini on the ascendant is somewhat of an enigma. No, seriously! These individuals are brilliant and adept at revealing only what they want you to know. They have a great poker face and could even be considered deceitful or someone who tends to change their mind immediately. I know I just said a lot, but hear me out! There are levels to this placement. On the ascendant, Gemini loves to learn, gain information, and share it, but understanding the intention behind this will always be crucial when dealing with one. Of course, they may want to help you and engage in stimulating conversation, but they may also try to control you with this knowledge if they are not in their dignity and struggle with control issues and abandonment. A person with this placement may sometimes be a walking contradiction based on how they feel about the information they know and have received. They also tend to jump from one topic to the next without a clear resolution or conclusion to the previous one. However, when confronted with a different perspective, they will take time to process and review what has been shared. And the good news is they usually don't see themselves above apologizing to anyone if the facts are facts. This placement does not handle insecurity or a lack of closure well, as it may lead to overthinking and a closed mind to proper judgment. Their power lies in being persuasive, a great storyteller, a master manifester, and a channeler of divine messages, all grounded in their curiosity and effective communication with others.
Having Gemini in the big three is powerful because communication is how we maintain interconnectedness as a human race. We deepen our bonds with one another through information, learning, and asking questions. We can learn a great deal from Gemini by understanding the power of asking for clarity or seeking to delve deeper into understanding our fellow humans. And there is something to be said for not being fixed on one idea or philosophy. Their open-mindedness could benefit humanity, especially during times like these. With new information and revealed truths, seeing things with new eyes is a part of life! The two-faced twins know something we have yet to accept fully.
There you have it: the Ram, the Bull, and the Twins. After reading this, can you see how they can take over the world!? If you have these placements, could you see yourself in these descriptions? At the very least, I am sure that you can see why Aries, Taurus, and Gemini are a vital life force of our zodiac, even if some of them may have a bunch of haters who have them on their "Dislike List.'' Remember, everyone has a role to play in this life, even if the role is least desirable.
